Breakfast at the round up is delicious. If you like real pan fried potato hasbrowns this is the place to find them.
Shhhhh it's a secret. It's that good!
Skip the dishes
No but usually find a seat
I can't say for certain. They usually change the Daily special menu board from breakfast to lunch specials around 11:30 - 12:00, but I think they would probably do a breakfast type meal later if requested. Updated; Round Up Cafe will serve breakfast menu after 'breakfast hours' on request.
nice little diner, the waitress was friendly and the food was good. it took a little while to have our order taken however, but it seemed there were only two waitresses so it's understandable. the place is old so the floor isn't exactly level, and it's smaller than I had thought based off of the photos posted here.
The Roundup is a dying breed. The last of the true Diners. A lovely little gem. Good food, good prices and a wonderful step into the 1950,s.This whalley institution is also a great corporate citizen supporting local baseball since 1959. Surrey loves Roundup Cafe
Like a diamond in the rough! This place has old school charm and classic food that hits a special nostalgic spot! We had the eggs bennie (I added the tomato), and the home made hash potatoes are unreal! Hollandaise is from scratch and done with real ham, not lunch meat. We wanted the lemon meringue pie because it looked like heaven but it was breakfast time. Don't be put off by the area or its populace, it adds to an odd sense of charm! Great spot!!
The service was good. The breakfast was good. Very reasonable prices at this old-fashioned diner too. Happy our motel manager recommended we eat there.
Best breakfast anywhere! Great staff and fun decor.
I love going to the round up cafe reminds me of a oldschool homestyle restaurant.
I love the spot for the hearty breakfasts they have, fast and friendly service! Right in the heart of whalley.
Me and my coworkers picked up a round of tuna melts, was delicious! Would recommend for sure. Custer service was great even though I was in and out quickly!I'll be back for sure
Food is not bad, ordered their eggs benedict with ham and it came with a generous portion of pan fried potatoes as well. Have to say that the service was very good though!
Great little retro diner! Been in the community for 60 years. Taking my kids there for the past 20 years, since they were little. Very nostalgic for my family. :)
First time to this restaurant and we were not disappointed with the traditional home cooked breakfasts. I tried the Turkey dinner and it was okay. I couldn't order all white meat so it was a mix of dark and white. The meat was thinner slices and a little dry. The stuffing was a little too soggy. The gravy on the mashed potatoes and the turkey was excellent. The carrots tasted liked they just came out of the garden! The neighborhood may look a little sketchy but dont let that deter you from going here, we loved it. The service was excellent as well, older staff who know what customer service is all about!
I've always wanted to visit and have breakfast here so I made the effort to go Sunday morning. Ordered Eggs Benny and coffee. The coffee was too weak for my liking but was still drinkable. The Eggs Benny on the other hand, was delicious with proper hollandaise sauce and hashbrowns. I would have liked a little more of the hashbrowns but overall, it was a good portion. Interior is as you would expect from an old diner. It is kept clean and the servers are experienced. Will try to make a regular visit.
Absolutely favorite place for breakfast and lunch. Classic greasy spoon without the grease. Staff are amazing.
I ordered the 1/2 corned beef, hashbrowns and eggs. The food arrived hot off the grill, portions were good and the taste was in line with my expectations. The server is polite, helpful and friendly. I found parking infront if the pla e which is a little old and typical of a diner but is not short on cleanliness or character. Prices are on the lower end of the scale. A comfortable 5 star from me.
Portion size is good, food was hot and the kids loved there meals. However the steak was a little hockey puck with no seasoning whatsoever. None of the other food had salt or any seasoning. Just bland food. Staff was very friendly and fast
The manager was really nice! Constantly checking on the food and everything. The food was superb. The only way to convince me that I like a place is by how good their eggs Benny's are.. they were superb.
My dad use to take me here as a kid, couldn’t believe it’s still here. Stopped in with my daughter and granddaughter, for old times sake. So cool, same as before, but refreshed. Good was fantastic! Dad and his buddy had business near there, years ago, called Budd bulldozing. Made my day❤️
A local 'secret' - Historic, old school diner, right out of a '50'smovie. Excellent, friendly service, family operated since day one. The menu, too, would be recognized by a time traveler from the 50's or 60's. Good, simple food. The Round Up makes their own slaw, salads, (no toxic additives ) and yes, their own fries, made daily with fresh potatos, skin on. (The most nutritious part!)Come for the ambiance, stay for the great food and friendly service!
Perfect little dinner, was full of people enjoying great fine made for when I was here. Delightful
Typical perfect spot to eat breakfast. Very friendly. I'll be back!
So lucky to have this place so close to home! Great vibes and amazing food. Our very own 50's diner in the heart of Whalley.
This cafe is bustling with customers. Why? Because it serves a wide variety of dishes that tickles the fancy of any customer. The servers are very hard-working, although they could use a tad more brightness while interacting. The decor provides the feeling of traveling back in time.I ordered the Grand Slam, which yields very fluffy, tasteful pancakes, along with butterflies sausages, pan-fried potatoes, a pile of toast, and over medium eggs. While they accidentally switched my eggs with my mother's, which were over easy, this mistake was made up by the fact that they ACTUALLY gave me over medium eggs. It is tricky to find a restaurant that can deliver to the request of "over medium" eggs; they typically over- or under-cook eggs. Overall, this is a great place for a well-cooked and decently speedy meal. I have seen many people order to-go. Give this place a try if you're ever desiring the "old diner" feel!
Great food and good service.
This is a little gem of a breakfast shop on King George! Very traditional and I loved it. The portion is good and the food delicious. Brought my parents there and they enjoyed is also. The only problem I had was that there were a couple flies flying around but we're experiencing a heat wave so there's that. Will definitely come back!
Good service, good food. A great place for breakfast
Decades of history serving the community the Round-Up is a must-do for Sunday breakfast. Friendly people and delicious food in a cozy atmosphere .
Very popular in weekends so expect a wait. Good wait staff and lots of history here.
Looks sketchy from the outside, it isn't. This 50's themed diner has a cozy atmosphere and is filled with people from the 1950's and college students alike. It's a fairly busy place for being so small but there isn't a wait. The food is really good and I would recommend the Eggs Benedict. The floor is very diner-like, it differs in height in many places so there aren't stairs but there are different levels. There is a central seating area which is very reminiscent of diners from the 1950's. The washrooms are small but clean, just like the restaurant.
Food is goos enough but exspencive. Service was very poor. Didn't recieve some items at all and had to ask for our bill three times. There are only like 10 tables. We were there for memories and nostalgia though.
Quick service. Decent prices. Okay food. The place is a little outdated but I think this place has been here for like 40 years. Had eggs benny and husband had a burger. Would recommended this if you go here.
Still come here after 40 years!! Food is good and the service is great! Still has the vintage charm!!😁😁😁
First time visiting this little gem of Surrey history for breakfast. We weren't disappointed! 😊The staff was very friendly and portions generous. We will definitely be back again.
An excellent diner with 60 years of history owned by the same family. Very cozy and warm! The breakfast was excellent and would like to thank Tanya who provided us with excellent service and care. Looking forward to coming for lunch or dinner soon!
Good food. Friendly staff. And nostalgic feel
Decent old school brunch food with local crowd. No frills and authentic Surrey atmosphere. I enjoyed it!
Good food, friendly staff, not expensive.
It was alright. Server was very friendly and polite. The food (at least the corned beef hash, for me) was a little underwhelming and a little heavy on the potatoes and light in the beef (as well as the corning of said beef). I'd give it another shot, tho. Maybe try something different.
My favorite little place right now every since my coworker introduced me to it. Everyone I have taken here has loved it! The burgers are so delicious & taste freshly made & juicy! The breakfast is drool worthy & their turkey dinner tastes as though my mom made it at home. Real stuffing, none of that fake processed grey stuff people refer to as stuffing! SOOOO good. The servers are always so nice & the food comes out at a good pace even when they are busy.
It's like going back to a simpler time. A mom and pop type restaurant. Food is comforting and good.
I had a soup which was fresh and felt like homemade. The place was packed during brunch hours. Looked like many customers are regular here as the servers knew them by their name and greeted them well.
I came here at 3:15 and it says that they close at 5 but right when I walked in I was told I had 20 minutes before they were closing shop. I ordered the Benny and at first it was decently good. When I got to my second one close to the end, I started crunching on quite a few egg shells. I told the server about it and she said she “can’t do nothing about it since I ate it. “ portions were small considering the price. Wouldn’t recommend.
I grabbed some pie with my dad recently to visit memory lane. Being a single dad with not much for cooking skill he use to bring me here often and I was alway grateful. The lemon meringue was always my favorite dessert. Pie is the same as I remember as a kid. Awesome breakfast here as well. They are so reasonably priced you can’t go wrong.
Lived in the area for almost 10 years and just discovered a hidden gem - this place looks like a very budget place but don't judge the food or people inside - it's full with great energy - awesome tasty food and service is super friendly - if you are reading this then either you are in the area or looking for suggestion - go for it you will be surprised
Great little restaurant. 60 year anniversary this year. Staff was super and food was great.
Delicious breakfast food with a very friendly staff. The waitresses here are so accommodating. Very old fashioned dinner type vibes
Husband and I stopped in for lunch. Loved the decorations and aesthetic of the whole building. Food was phenomenal and very reasonably priced. Very homey feel with home cooked food.
Love the blonde server. I think her name is Tanya.
O MY GOODNESS!!! I walked into the cafe and I was amazed at the decorations. The atmoshpere of the place was so nice and clean, I felt like staying more. The service there was brilliant, I mean they asked us how everything was doing, how we felt, was there anything we didn't like, was there a problem? Things like that. Their menu had an amazing amount various foods. I going their will my family for breakfast, so I ended up getting French toast with sausage. And, o my gracious god, it was heavenly. Most of the food there was homemade, and it is delicious. I recommend this for both breakfast, lunch, and dinner a full hundred percent!
Top notch shop. Highly underrated; this place has been operating since 1959 and run by the same family, which is rare. The service and environment showcased the very best of what a 1950’s era diner should be. Hats of to the men and women that run the shop today.
Cute local breakfast spot
